How do I get a user profile?
Click into the Podcasts section on Forest Flava. On the sign-up page, go to ‘Get User Account’. You will then be asked to enter some information about yourself. Once you have done this, press submit and you will have your own user profile.
Do I have to set up a user profile?
Yes, you need to have a user profile in order to post your own photos, videos and music on the site.
But, you don’t need to personalise your profile if you don’t want to. So, while we need information like your age and email address, you can choose for this not to be seen by other people. Also, instead of attaching a picture of yourself to your profile, you could put a picture of something you like or a celebrity.
How do I upload stuff?
Once you are logged in, there will be an option in the top right hand corner of your screen called ‘Upload Stuff’. Click on this.
You then use the ‘Browse’ button to find the file you want to upload. This will let you go to your desktop or any other file drive where your material is saved. Double click the item you want to upload and this should appear in the text box beside the ‘Browse’ button.
You will then be asked to give some brief information about what you are submitting, and to place it in the category that suits. Then press upload at the bottom of your screen and your information will be submitted.
What happens to the information I submit?
The information has to be checked by a moderator who decides if it is appropriate for the website (e.g. if it young people friendly, doesn’t show anything illegal etc). Lyndsey, who is part of the Forest Flava team, does this. She will receive an email every time you submit something and then will either accept or deny it once it has been checked. Your material will then be submitted if everything is okay, or you will receive an email to say why it has been denied if it is not.
How long does it take to upload information?
This really depends on the internet connection you are using and the size of the file you are trying to upload. For example, a photo should upload quite quickly.
Depending on your connection speed and the size of a video, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to upload.
If your information is taking a while, please be patient and don’t browse away from the page, as this will cause the upload to stop.
