The Hungry Horse (by Emma) 27 Jun 2008   10:52:08 am

Last Thursday there was a touch of summer paradise in cloudy Chingford. The Hungry Horse restaurant, part of the Greene Man Pub, threw a beach bash to beat all others.

Chef Paul cooked up a storm with a traditional Jamaican barbeque which one guest Maria described as 'the best meal iv had in ages'.

Fun in the sun was available for all as guests got stuck into the challenge of the surf simulator. The young, the old and even the staff attempted to show their skills, most of the adults falling miserably, and once you'd failed at the surfing you could always show your dancing skills and boogie on the beach with the outdoor/indoor disco.

The bubbly friendly staff topped off a successful night with plenty of fun. Who needs Spain!

Dani 4 Youth Games 18 Jun 2008   03:00:35 pm

Danielle, seen kicking around her football in the pic above , is proving she’s more than just a good journalist. She’s one of Waltham Forest’s upcoming athletes as well!

Danielle’s been invited to take part in London’s Youth Games. This is a prestigious annual event which involves all 32 London Boroughs and the city of London, with over 20,000 competitors taking part.

The competition is based on the concept of the Olympic Games and is the largest youth sports event in Europe. Participants compete in over 35 different sports including cricket, archery, athletics and basketball.

Danielle will be representing Waltham Forest for football and table tennis. “I’m proud and honoured to be taking part in the games. I’ve always been determined to participate in sport in a competitive way and this is a great way to do it. It also gives me a chance to help get a good name for young people of today.” says Danielle.

Press Gang live on BBC London 12 Jun 2008   11:46:13 am

On Wednesday 11th June, the press gang headed down to Rich Mix in Bethnal Green to take part in a 2 hour live drivetime broadcast on BBC Radio London.

The big issue was youth crime and the press gang had more than their fair share of the airwaves. Rosie, Izzy, Danielle, Emma and Jennel all spoke up about their views on the causes and solutions of youth crime.

At the end, all of the young people came up with a manifesto about what they wanted to be done about crime. The BBC are now going to present this to the Mayor of London and his advisors.

Let's see what happens next!!

Well done guys x

The Waterhorse: Legend Of The Deep 02 Mar 2008   06:16:19 pm

"The Waterhorse: Legend of the Deep" is the story of a Scottish boy named Angus. One day, whilst playing near the sea, he finds an egg. However, it is not an ordinary egg, and it soon hatches into this wee cute dragon-like thing which turns out to be a Waterhorse. The story is set during the Second World War, but don't let that put you off if you don't like war films. It is a great film that all the family will enjoy.
(Also, the Waterhorse ties in wth the Loch Ness Monster thing). It is also quite similiar to Free Willy (I think so anyway). Go and see it!!!
